What makes this different than the online school? The residential program is where theory, practicum, culture, and real-time learning and application converge. While the online programs boast plenty of content that is vital to Kingdom Justice work, the residential program provides a deeper look into team dynamics, hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of our sister organization, El Pozo de Vida, first-hand experience in designing solutions to real-world problems, as well as an opportunity to form relationships with leaders in the areas of social justice and serving the marginalized. If this wasn’t enough, the school is based in Mexico City, a growing hub of culture, cuisine, cinema, and a melting pot of people from all around the world. You will be immersed in a completely different context, exposed to various languages, all while connecting with your original design and learning how you can make a difference in your context.

Our Recommendations:

Regarding Language: The school does its best to cater to people from all language backgrounds; however, a basic English and/or Spanish understanding is recommended for an optimal experience. Translation is provided for all classes and logistical meetings at the various projects; however, going deeper with beneficiaries, staff, and church communities does require a basic level of Spanish. You do not need this to participate in the program, but it will only enhance your experience.

Regarding Healing: In our experience with past students, but also staff of the organization 27Million and El Pozo de Vida, a willingness to heal is a critical foundation that can not be neglected if you desire to take the program. A key pillar to the restoration work that we do is this continual process of healing. Much of the content can be triggering just due to the social contexts that we are touching upon. This content can remind us of the injustice and trauma that we have lived through, and upon arriving at that realization, we can choose to embrace the uncomfortability and heal, or we can choose to run in the opposite direction. If you believe you are more inclined to choose the latter, this school may not be for you in this specific season. Sensitive topics that will be covered include: all types of abuse and negligence including sexual abuse and spiritual abuse as well as addiction, and it is important to note that in order to address the injustice in our world, we must study and understand what and where the roots are.

Regarding Challenging Topics: Our goal with the Justice School program is to raise up the next generation of freedom fighters who bring Kingdom Justice in all spheres and contexts of society. At every level, in every position, we need people who are motivated and driven by bringing God’s Kingdom Justice here to earth. Because of this, we have various professors who come from varying backgrounds and different perspectives. It is guaranteed that you will find yourself confronted with perspectives and ideas that you do not agree with and that is by design. We believe there is a through-line of fundamental theology that is agreed upon by all of our professors, but on certain secondary issues, there is a wide spectrum of perspectives. Come ready to be challenged.
